Meet the maker
At Hester Paints, it's all about paintings that feel close. Each work is born from a combination of feeling, color, and the joy of creating. I work without a fixed plan, letting myself be guided by what emerges and trying to remain honest with my experiences.
With my work I don't want to explain too much – I prefer to leave room for your own interpretation.
Discover the story behind Hester Paints
I started painting during a period when everything was at a standstill: in the midst of a burnout and shortly after my mother's death. What initially began as a way to find peace and stability quickly grew into a deep need to create, feel, and process.
My inspiration often stems from emotion, from the interplay of light and color, and from the need to capture something difficult to express in words. In that search for peace, clarity, and beauty, I found painting. Every (brush)stroke helps me slow down and reconnect with myself.
I didn't inherit it from a stranger. My mother was also a creative person. She painted, made sculptures, and exhibited several times. Now that I get to work with some of her materials—her brushes, her canvas, her colors—makes painting even more meaningful. It feels like I carry something of her with me in every piece I create.
With my paintings, I aim not only to create something beautiful, but also to create space for emotion, stillness, and wonder. I hope you recognize something of yourself in what I create.
